American Airlines has recently introduced new Airbus A321 Transcontinental aircraft to its fleet. The new addition is being considered to be a more fuel-efficient aircraft. The delivery of the first Airbus A321T was made to the airline in November 2013. The new aircraft has been deployed on New York JFK-Los Angeles route, and would later be utilized to operate flights on New York JFK-San Francisco route as well.
American Airlines in a statement said that the new Airbus A321T aircraft has already started flying between Los Angeles International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport from January 2014. The airline will also be using the same aircraft to operate flights between San Francisco International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport in March 2014.
The customers booking business class flights would be offered 20 fully lie-flat seats. According to the airline, the business class cabin will have a 2-2 conformation. All the seats will be outfitted with one USB jack and universal AC power outlet. The customers in business class will also be able to choose the same entrée and starter choices provided to those traveling in the First Class. The business class customers would also be offered a choice of up to 180 TV programs, above 350 audios, up to 200 movies and up to 20 games for in-flight entertainment on a 15.4 inch HD-able flexible touchscreen monitor.
Recently, Lee Mergner of Jazz Times sat down with Grammy
Award-winner Diana Krall and interviewed her on several subjects, including her feelings about her upcoming appearances on the first-ever StarVista Signature Cruises on Seabourn.
Diana Krall will hold a series of intimate concerts exclusively for cruise guests during the final four nights of the cruise. Krall herself is excited to be performing on the cruise.
“I’ve never been on a jazz cruise,” she says. “I’ve never been on a cruise except to Antarctica!”
Krall will be performing with several jazz Musicians. “I get to go on this cruise and play with John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton and Anthony Wilson,” said the pianist, singer and songwriter. “How great is that?” Clayton will accompany Krall on bass, Hamilton on drums and Wilson on guitar.
The first five nights of the cruise will feature a group of superstars from The Jazz Cruise, including pianist Shelly Berg, vocalist Karrin Allyson, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, reed performer Anat Cohen and trumpeter Randy Brecker. They will be joined by Clayton and Hamilton in various configurations during those performances.
The Dallas Morning News has hailed this cruise one of the five “must do” vacations for 2014, along with some very exotic and fascinating choices.
We at Entertainment Cruise Productions are thrilled to be able to offer this cruise program and hope that you can join us.

Entertainment Cruise Productions, LLC just completed two amazing sailings, probably the best ever, of its two venerable jazz programs, The Smooth Jazz Cruise and The Jazz Cruise. Both sailings were held for the first time on Holland America’s m/s Eurodam, one of their newer ships. It afforded our Guests a fabulous Asian restaurant, breathtaking views from a new bar area and a host of other new amenities. These elements, combined with near-perfect weather, set the stage for fabulous cruises.
And the stage was indeed set for some of the world’s most entertaining and dynamic jazz performers. The Smooth Jazz Cruise, led by Marcus Miller and David Sanborn and supported by stars Boney James, Brian Culbertson and Candy Dulfer, showcased an all-star lineup of smooth jazz Artists for a week of terrific music and fun. Highlighted by the induction ceremony for Marcus’ and Wayman Tisdale’s entry into the SiriusXM Watercolors Jazz Hall of Fame, the cruise also featured the annual Gospel Show, parties at the pool, nightly star-studded shows and so much more. If rebooking is a measure of success, then this cruise was an “over the top” sensation, as all cabins for the January 2015 sailing of The Smooth Jazz Cruise were sold by the third day of the cruise, prompting us to pull together a March sailing of the same (or nearly the same) cruise.
The Jazz Cruise ’14, much anticipated by jazz fans worldwide, was a rousing success as well. The elegance of the new ship was the perfect backdrop to seven days and nights of superb music, featuring the very best straight-ahead jazz players in the world. Arturo Sandoval, Poncho Sanchez, Dick Hyman and Freddy Cole were the legends of the cruise, with Bill Charlap, Randy Brecker, Clayton Brothers, Jeff Hamilton, Kurt Elling, Nnenna Freelon, John Pizzarelli and Benny Green following closely in their footsteps. The young lions Gregory Porter, Gerald Clayton,
Tommy Igoe and Marcus Miller rounded out the headliners, along with our usual staple of stars.
Music Director Shelly Berg expertly created the program, while John Fedchock led the all-star big band and Ken Peplowski added his jazz acumen and sense of humor tocreate a moving triute to the theme of the cruise, Jazz Around the World. Once again, using cabin sales as the marker, this cruise was a rousing success. -- Jazz Cruises Newletter February 2014
